How Brass Players Do It
Ridgeon.

"How Brass Players Do It" is a book of lip flex abilities. Especially good for the beginner player as there are many exercises in the lower range.

Lip slurs can help you improve your sound and increase your range. This book will help you achieve those high notes all the way up to E above top C!

Advanced Lip Flexabilities Vol 1,2,3
Charles Colin.

Advanced Lip Flexabilities

is a book of slurs which help you to expand you upper register. This book is aimed at more advanced players than "How Brass Players Do It".

Lip slurs can help you improve your sound and increase your range. This book will help you achieve those extreme high notes all the way up to A above top C!

Selection of Concone Studies
Reinhardt

"Selection of Concone Studies" is an excellent book of simple lyrical studies to help you develop a full controlled sound which is the basis of all good playing.

Originally these studies were written for voice, these excellent transcriptions can help you achieve a vocal quality in your sound.

Cornet Method
Arban

The Arban is the most famous technique book for trumpet. Though from the Victorian period this book is still current and is referred to as the trumpet players Bilble.

This book covers a huge range of material from Scales, double and triple tonguing, flexabilites, syncopation and a selection of studies and Theme and Variations.

Complete Conservatory Method
Arban

The Conservatory Method

contains all of the same material as the Cornet Method but it has some added extras such as more studies and lots of duets!

This book covers a huge range of material from Scales, double and triple tonguing, flexabilites, syncopation and a selection of studies and Theme and Variations.

Daily Drills and Technical Studies
for Trumpet. Max Schlosberg

Daily Drill by Schlossberg

contains many exercises to help you hone your technique. Contains sections on Long Notes, Intervals, Octaves, Chords, Lip Drills and Studies.

This book has similarities to the Arban but its different approach may suite some players.

The Buzzing Book
James Thompson

The Buzzing Book  is my favourite warm-up book.

A great starter for your daily practice routine. The free backing tracks help you to implement rest into your practice.

This book will help you to build your range and centre your tone in a relaxed fashion. The first 4 exercises are especially good if your lips are tired or swollen.

Warm-Ups and Studies
James Stamp

The James Stamp Warm Up book works the pedal notes on the trumpet. If you improve your lower register the increased breathing can help you develop the high register.

As well as exploring the lower register this book also contains some excellent

commonly used scalic exercises.

Technical Studies
Herbert Clarke

Technical Studies by Clarke contains scalic patterns go through all of the keys. Excellent for improving your facility in the full range of the trumpet.

The idea is to approach each pattern as a long note so the air can flow through. Also great for improving range.

The Allen Vizzutti Trumpet Method
Book 1: Technical Studies

The Vizzutti Book 1 contains exercises such as notes, lip slurs, technical studies (like The Clarke) and high note expanding exercises.

The Allen Vizzutti Trumpet Method
Book 2: Harmonic Studies

The Vizzutti Book 2

contains studies in intervals and chordal exercises. Good for getting your head and fingers around harmony.

The Allen Vizzutti Trumpet Method
Book 3: Melodic Studies

The Vizzutti Book 3 contains melodic studies like the Concone.

Also contains advanced, rhymic and low note studies and a selection of duets.
